Sorry for the late updates was busy with lotz of stuff.
Here is 1 major updates on bunnies that i need to highlight to all bunny lovers.
A Friday from weeks b4 CNY, i got a call to schedule for a bunny groom. it was then fixed & when i went over on that Friday i was shock!!!!!
Gabby the Fuzzy lop has always been so active(meaning "very hard to catch") @ anytime when i went over for grooming but this trip was different.
His head was down right in front of his cage's entrance,the feel I've was weird as he was never been so "quiet"!
I felt so strange about it so i took him out & guess what I've discovered....... it was the smell @ 1st, then when i turn him over i found.....
serious urine burn with poo,urine & traces of worms ........ my heart goes to this poor little thing.... :(
1st time when i carried him.........
Guess you can't even figure out where is His tail & legs. i was asked whether could i bring him home to look after & board so i bought him home that evening.
When i got home i distress him & waitied till he's more settled then i proceed to shower.
I carefully showered him with warm water in the shallow pail & soak him in it too.
then blow dry............. he is ok don't worry!
This after all the washing & cutting of fur u see skin, it was really badly burned till the 3rd layer was already gone thru & it was painful when i apply some antiseptic.
On Sunday, i realised that he needs to consult a vet urgently as his eye discharge,urine burns & sore back hid legs did not show any major improvements so after a discussion with Gabby's owner, Monday was the appointment date for a trip to the vet.
Monday,
I bring Gabby along with me to work.
I made a " bunny nursery" with absorbent pad for urine & shredded paper to give cushion for his feet. *shredded paper has to check every hourly & change if he pee.
he was given water & hay.
He was about to doze off (after medication) so i put him in a nursing box & on my desk just to keep an eye on him.
I give him cushion made out of towel to place underneath the neck,make it as cosy & warm as possible with a cushion on top to minimise the conditioning.
Look.....
He is so comfy & sound asleep....ZZZZZZZZ
After Work
I bought him to see Dr Lin @ all pet (jalan kayu) for all his problems, he was screaming as Dr Lin gently scrubbing away all the dried urine & poo at the private area with antiseptic wash & cream was applied on the affected areas.
I was at the point of tearing when he screams as scrubbing goes on for 10 - 15 mins i was touching his head & telling him" is OK Gabby, I know it's painful & i know you're a brave boy! don't worry i sayang you ya!
I was so heart pain ;( that Gabby has to go thru this process but it has to be done if not the skin can't "breath" & medicine couldn't penetrate in.
I was given 8 kinds of medi including saline, scrub,4 types of antibiotic,eye drop n gel & critical care to force feed. I was told to come back on Thursday for review.
This is how it looks after he was scrubbed by Dr Lin.
After coming back from all pets, I promptly attended to Gabby for his medicine & cleaning.
For the next few days : 1am,3am,5am & 1130pm to force feed critical care as Gabby is not eating & drinking too well.
Washing affected area: 530am & 6pm
Medicine feeding twice aday: 530am & 6pm
eye drop & eye gel has to be given 5 mins apart from each other.
Goes on till the next visit to Dr Lin @ all Pets.
I was exhausted but all these was worth it as long as Gabby's condition is improving day by day.
Treated him just like 1 of my buns, I talks to him everyday as long as i'm home, spending time with him watching TV on the sofa & siting on my lap when i was on my com.
He was still not eating too well.
Thursday - Review day
I brought him to work with me in the morning & after work we'll be heading to all pets @ Jalan Kayu & Gabby will be review by Dr Lin.
This is me at workplace, about to do the cleaning for him. Gabby was so co-operative as the pain was not that unbearable like the 1st day.
Result.......
Can you see the difference...............
All my hardwork was worth it, just look at the recovery it just takes all my tiredness away but it gives me strength to carry on doing it!!
It was not fully recovered yet but the recovered third layer of skin is smooth & shiny.
Goosh!!! I was so happy! cause this means not painful anymore.
Dr Lin change the eye medi as it was not helping much as the recovery for the eyes are very slow also given antiseptic wipes for the skin & more antibiotic with lower dosage was also given. The only problem that we was worried about is Gabby is still not eating on his own.
On Friday,
Gabby was still on his way for recovery but he was still required to be force fed as he just doesn't show he is eating as per normal like any other bunnies.
Bad News....................................
Unfortunately, he was still fighting for his life till eve of CNY that morning(1 week), he was asleep when he passed away in my arms..... :( i was so so sad!
I called the owner, she came with her hubby & took him away for the Pet C to pick him up for his final journey.
Thank you Gabby for letting me have this chance to know you as i can see you know it was me that did the cleaning & feeding. although it was short but i cherish the days you were with me,spending with me & your fighting spirt was amazing.
I will always remember you Gabby!!!!!
